Body Mass Index & Healthy Weight Calculator

This body mass index calculator should only be used for guidance by those over the age of 18. If you are under 18 years old, different numbers apply and the results will not be accurate. If you have any questions about your health you should see your GP.

Body Mass Index, or BMI is a standardised way of assessing your weight. A BMI of between 18.5 to 25 is considered to be an ideal weight range, whilst a BMI outside of this range has health risks attached. The higher your BMI over 25, the higher your risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and some cancers.

BMI only works when someone has an average amount of muscle mass. Muscle weighs more than fat, so a highly trained athlete with a high muscle mass will appear overweight in terms of their BMI. Too little muscle mass (as in the elderly and malnourished) will make a person appear in the healthy range when in fact, they may have health issues.

“I have been applying most of the things Emma suggested, to great effect. Both my weight body fat are the lowest they have been in more than 8 years. My sleep pattern has improved, and my energy level is increasing all the time. All I can say is talk to Emma, she might just change your life!”
